Each Durapul pultrusion machine can be custom tailored for your specific needs and environment. Having been involved in hundreds of projects over the last 36 years we have developed design solutions which address nearly every situation you may encounter. From solid pullers and shaped bearings for the highest pull loads, to tight cut tolerances and exacting precision for micro-pultrusions, MPG has a solution.
Multi-Clamp PullersMulti-clamp pullers will significantly increase processing efficiency in a multi-cavity setup. Running multiple profiles under a single clamp platen can be problematic when certain profiles require different clamping pressures to pull effectively, or when pulling profiles of different heights. Our multi-clamp setups allow the operator full control over each profile with independent clamps on each. Each clamp can be engaged or disengaged independent of the others, and also runs on an independent pressure control. This gives the operator ultimate flexibility during startup and shut down of each cavity as well as the ability to make the necessary adjustments to a single profile without regard to the effect on the other profiles.
4-Axis Die StationMulti-axis movement of the die allows an operator to easily offset process induced warp and bow during processing. The ability to change the axis of the die during processing has proven to dramatically reduce scrap rates.
Fully Supported Shaped BearingsSometimes round, flexible bearings can aid in creating a smooth pull motion and hand-off. However, as your pull forces increase with the size of your profiles, or raw material choices, the flex in round bearings can cause problems. For these high load applications we use a frame design which incorporates Thomson shaped bearings mounted on a precision milled bearing surface that sits directly above the web of a large I-Beam that runs the length of our frame. The bearing pads are welded into position and then the entire frame is mounted in a very large CNC mill which squares and trues the bearing pads so that they are perfectly level and perfectly aligned. Each pad is milled and drilled per Thomson standards for optimum performance. Each bearing "car" is rated for millions of cycles and equipped with rail wipers and a lube block.
Solid Side PullersWhen pull force and precision are paramount we recommend our solid side puller design. This design eliminates any flex in the puller carriage due to heavy pull forces and ensures that your profile remains perfectly flat and square throughout the entire pull cycle.
Carbon Fiber ProtectionNEMA 4 cabinets, plugs and outlets are standard on all Durapul machines. For equipment that is destined for an environment where carbon fiber dust and loose fibers are an issue we recommend including the added protection of cabinet pressurization. Maintaining positive pressure inside the electrical cabinets will further ensure that carbon fiber doesn't become a safety hazard.
Safety EnclosuresMachine guarding and safety standards is an ever changing area in machine building and can vary greatly from country to country. MPG has experience in many countries across the globe and can assist in making sure your machine meets the local codes for safety. We have numerous options for machine guarding, from simple sheet metal covers to full lock-out enclosures.
Custom SawsMPG has the in-house engineering and experience to design a saw for your specific needs. We have designed and built saws that address issues such as on-the-fly blade angularity adjustments, chamfer cuts, extra large cut windows, tight cut tolerances, multi-cavity, multi-cut length, part dispensing/off-loading, and many others.
Electric Servo OperationMPG has experience manufacturing electric actuated machines and would be happy to provide a quotation. Hydraulic power has long been the standard in pultrusion due to the strength, durability, reliability and cost effective nature of the system. Modern electric actuators and related components are not yet price competitive with hydraulics, but have started to come down in price and have begun to offer solutions capable of the kind of forces necessary in a pultrusion system. For operations that can't accommodate a hydraulic system, or require the unique benefits of electric operation, MPG can provide a solution.
Profile Labeling / IdentificationPrinted veils, rotary stamping, digital laser marking or ink jet printing. All of these technologies can be fully integrated into Durapul equipment.
Quiet RunMPG can add special sound dampening material to our machines to reduce the noise level during processing. However, the latest hydraulic motors and pumps rarely make this a necessary option.
